ON THIS DAY – April 20th – Judas Priest, Ratt, Ozzy, Metallica & More

On April 20th, this shit happened:

1987 – The album Tribute is released by Ozzy Osbourne, in Rudy Sarzo’s book Off The Rails he mentions that the tracks come from the only two shows professionally recorded that feature Randy Rhoads.

1992 – Metallica release the single for Nothing Else Matters.

1992 – A Concert For Life takes place at the old Wembley Arena, it is a tribute to Queen’s Freddie Mercury, and features Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi, Extreme, Metallica, Def Leppard, and the surviving members of Queen among others.

1999 – Industrial metal band KMFDM release what would be at the time their last album after breaking up in January of the same year.

2010 –  A somewhat reunited Ratt release the Infestation album. It reaches #30 on Billboard.

2011 – Guitarist K.K. Downing ‘retires’ from Judas Priest & Richie Faulkner is announced as his replacement.

2013 – Black Sabbath begin their first tour of Australia and New Zealand in 40 years.
