In a move that should not surprise anyone, a former member of Ghost, Martin Persner, has revealed he was a member of the band. This was bound to happen, for so many reasons, much like the fever of being the first to break who was behind the make up or masks that protected bands like Kiss and Slipknot, it took almost ten years for someone to come forward and say they were a member of Ghost. According to Persner, the Nameless Ghouls have been a revolving door since the band’s inception, and now he has come forward to give his side of the story. He is coincidentally promoting the relaunch of his band the Magna Carta Cartel, which he put on hold to join Ghost. I don’t blame him at all, he’s been part of the hottest hard rock and metal band of the last few years, why wouldn’t you leverage that information to help promote what you currently have going on? After all, the guy has to pay for his bills somehow, right? Eventually we found out who was in Kiss and Slipknot, and many speculate that Papa Emeritus is Swedish musician Tobias Forge, but will we find out the true identities of Fire, Water, Wind, Earth or Ether A.K.A. the Nameless Ghouls? Will Persner’s discloser make others come forward? Will fans care enough to begin calling new member of the band “Scab Ghouls”? I can see the online arguments now “the only Ghost albums I like are the ones where the original Fire played” or “Hey she’s doing the original Water’s moves on stage”. I guess we’ll have to wait and see if this escalates anymore.
