ON THIS DAY – 2/17/87 – Vinnie Vincent Destroys His Guitars

February 17, 1987 – Long Beach Arena, Long Beach, CA

Vinnie Vincent Invasion was direct support for Iron Maiden on their Somewhere In Time tour, replacing Yngwie Malmsteen who had previously opened for the band. After the tour, Vinnie famously laid all of his pink double V’s out in a parking lot and ran them over. He would be quoted as saying that playing with Maiden lead him to this decision. Legend has it that he would meet former Kiss drummer Peter Criss during this tour, Criss would later say that the two of them had written songs together during their brief encounters.

Members of the Invasion included Vinnie Vincent (Guitar), Dana Strum (Bass), Bob Rock (Drums), Mark Slaughter (Vocals)
