Please check out our friend Metal Mike Chlasciak this weeked in NYC at a School of Rock event. Here are the details:
Over 100 students from School of Rock franchises in New York and New Jersey will perform in a concert called “Metal Fest: Are You Metal Enough?” at the Gramercy Theater in New York City on Saturday, April 7.
In addition to being a concert, the show will also be a competition: the winning musicians will be awarded a free week at Mayhem In The Mountains, a week-long metal camp in the Catskills that will be held August 19 through August 25.
Competing at “Metal Fest” will be young rockers, ages 7 through 17, who attend School of Rock programs in Chatham, Montclair, Princeton, and Tenafly, New Jersey; and Farmingdale, Fort Washington, Manhattan, Port Jefferson, and Westchester, New York. Each school will perform two heavy metal songs of their choosing, and will include anthems by such groups as Metallica, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Queens of the Stone Age, and System of a Down.
Judging “Metal Fest” will be Metal Mike, a graduate of the esteemed Berklee College of Music in Boston. Mike has recorded and toured the world with former Judas Priest lead singer Rob Halford as well as metal superstar Sebastian Bach, and was also a cast member of our weekly series “Talking Metal On Fuse”.
Tickets for “Metal Fest” are $19, and can be purchased at LiveNation.com or at the Gramercy Theater, 127 East 23rd Street, on Saturday, April 7. Doors open at 11 AM, and the three hour show begins at noon.
